Welcome!
Hey there! J.R. Thomas here. This is my new blog which is dedicated to the process of writing, publishing, marketing, ect of my new e-book 'Bell Watkins And The Mistrunners'. What's more, I hope that it can become a blog that's about the art of writing in general and what authors and readers (particularly authors who are just starting out) go through in this exciting new time. 'Bell Watkins' will be a self published endeavor (my first foyer into that venue and I can't imagine it won't be filled with enough twists and turns to make this blog a very active one. Also, I'll be including thoughts of mine about life, writing, and how one almost always affects the other in unforeseen ways. I'm even working on a few reviews for similarly self published books and even a few interviews with their creators. So, welcome. Below you'll find a synopsis of my upcoming book. If it seems like it might be something you're interested in, stick around, drop me a comment. If not, I'm sure there's at least a few things we can discuss, so stick around anyway. Thanks again!
Bell Watkins lives in a world of leprechauns , fairies, and witches, on paper at least. As inspiration for the lead character in his grandfather's wildly successful book series, fifteen year old Bell spends his days dodging paparazzi, gorging himself on pizza, and complaining to his best friend Kara about his lack of a girlfriend.
When he's attacked by a strange creature in an alley and saved by a cute girl who appears from the mist however, things start to take a turn for the strange. The boy soon learns that the world of his grandfather's books is very real, and so is his place in it. Bell is a Mistrunner, a mystical being with amazing powers who's tasked with keeping the world safe from the things that go bump in the night.
When the attacks keep coming, Bell and Aisley, the cute girl from the alley must find a way to keep him safe, get to the bottom of just who it is that wants him dead, and deal with that pesky bird that just wont stop following him.
As if his plate wasn't full enough, Bell also has to learn to navigate through the dos and don'ts of the Mistrunner world, a list that includes such helpful tidbits as:
Never text while floating
Leprechauns are not as cuddly as cereal commercials would lead you to believe
And, no matter how hot a silkie looks in a bikini, remember she's still a seal underneath
